PATIALA: Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab organised International Conference on Navigating the Future, Ethics, Regulations and Sustainability in the age of Artificial Intelligence on 22-23 February, 2025 in collaboration with Indian Society of International Law, New Delhi and All India Law Teachers Congress.

The Chief Guest Hon’ble Mr. Justice Surya Kant, Judge, Supreme Court of India and Visitor, RGNUL Punjab, in his address quoted Darwin that it is the most responsive to change who survive, AI has now turned from a theoretical concept tangible reality. However, the risk of bias, existing prejudices and historical inequities must not find place in the AI world.
The Guest of Honor Hon'ble Mr. Justice Sheel Nagu, Chief Justice, High Court of Punjab & Haryana and Chancellor, RGNUL Punjab in his address talked about AI's ability to change and transform our present.
AI cab be used to confront challenges, take on risks but it must ensure rights are not undermined. Prof. Padmakumar Nain, Director Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, Patiala brought into focus the
AI's ability to garner data but now one must bring into focus ethical inconsistencies.
The Inauguration of the Conference also saw the released of the report of AI Governance Guidelines Development 2025. The comprehensive report on AI providing detailed recommendations on its design, deployment and governance was submitted to the Ministry of Information and Technology drafted by RGNUL Centre for Advanced Studies in Cyber Law and Artificial Intelligence (CASCA). The Project leads by Dr. Ivneet Walia, Aditya Jain and Tanmay Durrani.
RGNUL Centre for Constitutional Law and Governance (CCLG) also released their report on Impact assessment of the landmark Supreme Court judgment in NALSA Vs Union of India (2014) focused on the Transgender community in Punjab, particularly in District Patiala and SAS Nagar. This project was leads by Prof. (Dr.) Kamaljit Kaur,
Mr. Siddhartha Fuller and Mr. Ashish Gaur.
