Expert talk on Intl Day of Women in Science in RBU

MOHALI: University School of Allied Health Sciences, Rayat Bahra University commemorated “International Day of Women & Girls in Science” to highlight the role of women in the scientific world. The theme of the event was “Unpacking STEM careers: Her voice in Science”.

The event started with a skit performed by the students of BMLS 4th semester spreading a message that educating a girl child could produce strong and independent women in the society.

All the faculty members of USAHS along with more than 50 students participated in the event. Another girl student of BMLS 4th semester recited a poem on “Nari Shakti” explaining various roles of women in different aspects of life.

This was followed by an expert talk by Dr Pankaj Kaul, Dean, USAHS, where he showed various commendable women (National as well as International) in the field of Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) and their contributions to the scientific community. Two international students from BCVT 4th semester also shared their views on the topic.

A Techno quiz contest was also organised by the coordinator Pervinder, Asst. Prof. Cl. Biochemistry, in which all students from different streams of USAHS participated.

All the speakers and the winners of the quiz were felicitated with the certificate of appreciation by the Dean, Dr Pankaj Kaul. The event ended with some words of wisdom by Dr Ravi Ranjan, Associate Professor, Department of Medical Laboratory Science, USAHS, RBU, Mohali. The program was coordinated by Pervinder Kaur.

RBU management appreciated the efforts of USAHS in spreading awareness and educating masses about the latest trend of promoting women folk in the field of science and Technology.
