AMRITSAR: Prof (Dr) Karamjeet Singh, Vice Chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University emphasized the importance of international collaborations in tackling climate-related issues while inaugurating the five days’ workshop on“Climate Change, Atmospheric Pollution, and Environmental Degradation”, in collaboration with the Department of Geoinformatics -Z_GIS, University of Salzburg, Austria, at Department of Education. A large number of environmentalists were present on this occasion.
Prof. Karamjeet Singh said that this programme will enhance the interconnectedness of climatic changes, atmospheric pollution, and environmental degradation. As we strive for ‘Sarbat da Bhalla’, let us recognize that climate change is a pressing issue that affects us all. We must work together to mitigate its adverse impacts and create a more sustainable future for generations to come. This workshop is supported by the ERASMUS+ Programme of the European Union promoting student and staff mobility for capacity building in higher education.
During inaugural session, Prof (Dr) Karamjeet Singh also congratulated Prof Amit Kauts for being appointed as a representative to Eurasia-Pacific Uninet (EPU) to establish GNDU’s global prominence (Institution’s Collaboration). He appreciated the initiative taken by the department of education for organising such kind of workshops. Experts from both institutions discussed the role of geoinformatics and remote sensing in environmental research, highlighting innovative solutions for sustainable development.
