CHANDIGARH:In order to control maternal mortality, the Department of Health has been conducting periodic investigations into maternal mortality from time to time to find out the causes of maternal mortality.
Disclosing this here today the Director Health Services (Family Welfare) Punjab Dr. O.P. Gojra said that every effort was being made by the health department to control the maternal mortality rate.
It may also be mentioned here that the maternal mortality rate in Punjab is 129 per one lakh live births while the national figure stands at 122. Considering its seriousness, Assistant Director Dr. Vineet Nagpal visited District Fatehgarh Sahib for audit of Maternal Mortalities during the month of April 2021 to December 2021. During which an important meeting was held with the Civil Surgeon, Program Officers, Senior Medical Officers, Multipurpose Health Supervisors (Women) and ANMs of the district and necessary guidelines were issued to control maternal mortality.
Dr. Inderdeep Kaur State Program Officer MCH, Civil Surgeon Fatehgarh Sahib Dr. Harwinder Singh, District Family Welfare Officer Dr. Anu Chopra Dosanjh and others were also present on the occasion.
