MOHALI: The Department of Medical Laboratory Science of Rayat Bahra University organised a workshop on histopathology processing at the University School of Allied Health Sciences (USAHS).
The workshop provided an important academic and professional skill development opportunity to the students and faculty focusing on the latest advancements in histopathological techniques and their applications in medical diagnostics.
The workshop brought together prominent experts in the field of histopathology, including Dr. Vijay Mujoo, a renowned Pathologist, who arranged the resource inputs for the workshop.
Dr. Pankaj Kaul, Dean, USAHS, delivered the keynote address on “Overview of Histopathology Services”. The interactive session highlighted the essential role of histopathology in disease diagnosis, particularly in the identification of cancer and other tissue abnormalities.
Dr Kaul provided insights into modern staining techniques, digital pathology, and the future of automated histological procedures.
Participants were engaged in a series of hands-on training sessions by K.S.Rana, Unit Head, MLS coordinated by Sakshi, Tutor, MLS, that demonstrated various procedures such as tissue processing, sectioning, staining, and microscopic examination. These practical components were designed to help participants gain a deeper understanding of histopathological workflows, fostering essential skills for future lab work.
Chancellor Gurvinder Singh Bahra said the workshop was an important event in furthering the university's commitment to high-quality medical education.
