CHANDIGARH: A special 7 day and night NSS camp started at Panjab University, Chandigarh, today. The NSS camp being organised by NSS PU under the guidance of PU NSS Programme Coordinator, Dr. Parveen Goyal, will conclude on January 8th 2025.
PU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Renu Vig inaugurated the camp in the presence of distinguished guests, including Additional Solicitor General of India, Sh. Satyapal Jain, PU Controller of Examinations Prof. Jagat Bhushan, PU DCDC Prof. Sanjay Kaushik, PU DRDC Prof. Yojna Rawat, PU DSW (Women) Prof. Simrit Kahlon, Prof. Rajat Sandhir, Prof. Ganga Ram, and other faculty and staff members.
In her inaugural address, Prof. Renu Vig motivated the NSS volunteers to give their best in the true spirit of National Service Scheme. She highlighted the crucial role of NSS in personality development of students through community service and fostering a sense of social responsibility. While emphasizing the camp’s theme, “Youth for Digital Literacy and Save Environmental”, she highlighted the importance of small yet impactful initiatives taken in the University, such as implementing an online diary dispatch system for files and use of online delivery, which can contribute significantly to environmental protection and in other significant aspects also.
Sh. Satyapal Jain inspired the students with insights into the environmental values deeply rooted in Indian scriptures, urging them to take proactive steps in preserving nature.
