LPU’s 2024: A Year of Achievements, from Olympic Success to Students Securing Package of 1 Crore

PHAGWARA: Lovely Professional University (LPU), a global leader in higher education, continues to set new standards in 2024, further cementing its position as one of the world’s top educational institutions. With ground-breaking advancements in teaching, research, placements, sports, and internationalization, LPU is redefining academic excellence on a global scale.

LPU made significant strides in 2024 by receiving NBA Accreditation for its B.Tech (UG) programs. Together, the NBA, NAAC A++, ICAR, and UGC accreditations position LPU as a leader in providing quality, industry-relevant education that meets international standards.

In the global job market, LPU has continued to excel, with over 2, 100 national and multinational companies recruiting its graduates. Leading the way are impressive packages, with Mr. Yasir M. securing a remarkable Rs 3 crore package in Germany, and Mr. Pavan Kunchala achieving a Rs 1 crore package. More than 1, 500 students have also secured packages ranging from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 64 lakh, with top recruiters.

The university had 24 students representing India at the Olympics, making it the second-largest contingent globally, only behind Stanford University, USA. Among these athletes, 9 earned medals, including Neeraj Chopra’s historic silver in Men’s Javelin Throw, and 8 hockey players secured a bronze. LPU’s excellence extended to the Paralympics, where they claimed 1 gold and 2 silver medals. LPU was also honored as the 1st Runner-up in both the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Trophy 2024 and the Khelo India University Games 2024, further solidifying its position as a leader in sports achievement.

LPU’s rising global academic stature is evident in its impressive rankings. In the 2024 Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings, LPU secured 2nd place in India and ranked 101-200 globally. The university ranked 4th in India and 126th worldwide in the 2024 World University Rankings for Innovation. Demonstrating remarkable progress, LPU jumped from 25th to 9th place. Moreover, LPU was ranked 27th in the NIRF 2024, highlighting its growing influence within India's academic landscape. LPU ranked 99th in the 2025 THE Interdisciplinary Science Rankings and secured 226th position in the QS Asia University Rankings 2025, surpassing several top IITs and NITs.

LPU continues to expand its global footprint, having signed over 500+ MoUs worldwide and appointed around 200 Honorary Adjunct Faculty members. The university offers more than 200 student mobility programs, and LPU students benefited from numerous study-abroad opportunities in 2024.

The university has published over 27, 600 research papers, with more than 191, 686 citations in Scopus. The university has an H-Index of 145 and more than 7800+ Intellectual Property Rights (IPR). The university boasts 550+ worldwide collaborations and has 34 faculty members ranked among the world’s top 2% of scientists by Stanford University, USA.

Throughout 2024, LPU hosted several distinguished personalities who shared their insights with students, including the Hon’ble 28th Prime Minister of Australia, Tony Abbott, who graced the 11th Convocation as the Chief Guest. Distinguished figures also included actor Ashish Vidyarthi, who discussed business transformation at "Bizconfluence 2024, " and writer-actor Piyush Mishra, who celebrated literature at "Kitab Utsav 2024." Entrepreneur Srikant Bolla, CEO of Bollant Industries, inspired students with his journey, while Sanjay Katkar, co-founder of Quick Heal, spoke on the future of cybersecurity.

LPU’s Pro-Chancellor, Dr. Col. Rashmi Mittal, was conferred with the Honourary Colonel Rank in the National Cadet Corps. LPU's team secured 1st Runner-Up at the Punjab State Youth Festival, 2024, and was crowned Overall National Winner at the 37th National Youth Festival. An LPU student was appointed an Executive Board Member for the "Change the World MUN Emirates 2024" Conference in Dubai and was the only Indian panelist on the global jury. In motorsports, LPU’s teams emerged as overall champions at the Indian Karting Race 2024, winning 11 awards.
