MOHALI: Shermock Senior Sec. School, Sector 69 observed two days annual sports day during the founder’s week celebrations. Maj Gen. Raj Mehta former Director Shemrock school was the chief guest was the chief guest for the first day of sports meet. They released the set of colourful balloons to declare the meet open. He appreciated the girls' participation and motivated them to excel in future.
Maj Gen. Raj Mehta also highlighted the role of sports in the field of life in his address. The day witnessed the heats of the races and other athletic events included long jump, shot put etc. The day kick started with the cultural bonanza of events with Ganesh Vandana, Zumba and Bhangra as the highlights of the day. It was followed by the finals of the athletic events, 100m 200m 400m 800m and 1500m races for boys and girls under 14, 17 and19 category.
The events promoted healthy competition and sportsmanship among the students as it was an inter house event Best March Past Trophy was grabbed by the Oxford contingent and Athletics Trophy was bagged by Harvard house but the overall trophy (athletics and Team games) was bagged by Stanford House.
Under 17, Apurv was the boy's best athlete and Anushka was the girl's best athlete. The best athletes under 19 category were Avneet Kaur in girls and it was shared by Jasjot Singh in Boys . Under-14 category Navshaan and Amritbani bagged the best athlete award in boys and girls category respectively. The winners were awarded by the school principal Prineet Sohal. The excitement of the day was fun games arranged for mothers and fathers of the students and the winners were awarded.
