AMRITSAR: On her fourth birth day, Rehmat Kaur released her Dado’s fifth book in the domain of Sikhism. The book entitled Festivals of Sikhs is authored by Dr Gursharan Singh Kainth; Director General of the Amritsar based Guru Arjan Dev Institute of Development Studies. The book is published by Books clinic Prakashan, Bilaspur Chhattisgarh and release globally. This book attempts to narrate the historical background of the significant festivals celebrated by Sikhs.

Sikhi is a relatively young religion, and festivals play a crucial role in all religions to affirm faith, remember significant moments in their history, brings believers together, and celebrates. Gurpurabs are festivals that commemorate events from the lives of the ten Gurus. Sikh Gurus are essential spiritual teachers who help believers connect with God. They are seen as exemplars for humans to follow and as messengers delivering the teachings of God. Gurpurabs celebrate important events such as the births, inaugurations (when they became Gurus), and deaths of the Gurus. These events are observed with worship and singing. Besides Gurpurabs, there are numerous other celebrations throughout the year. This book attempts to narrate the historical background of the significant festivals celebrated by Sikhs.

Dr Madan Mohan Goel as a spiritual person promoting Gita-based Needonomics (economics of needs), believe "Festivals of Sikhs, " a masterpiece of academic excellence deserves to be read by all. This book provides a comprehensive understanding, analysis, and interpretation of Sikh festivals, emphasizing the need for celebration by young minds to ignite a sense of commitment to the nation to be Viksit by 2047 for needo-happiness.

The main focus of this book is on festivals as a vital aspect of Bharat, uniting people from different religions, castes, and regions. There is no comparison to Bharat in celebrating a wide range of festivals throughout the year. People from various regions, beliefs, traditions, and languages live together happily in Bharat. They all have their own set of festivals and rituals, which they celebrate with great devotion, enthusiasm, and happiness, following all the rituals with utmost dedication. Each festival has its own significance and is celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm. These festivals follow the Hindu calendar, which starts from the month of Chaitra in April and ends with the month of Phalgun.

This book will undoubtedly supplement our efforts for the needo-ignition of young minds and the empowerment of Indians in the entire INDIA (Independent, Non-violent, Democracy with Integrity and Amity), also called Bharat, as a knowledge-seeking economy added Dr Goel.
