Raksha bandhan celebrated at Brookfield Internatinal School

MOHALI: Brookfield International School, Siswan road, New Chandigarh celebrated Raksha Bandhan at its campus . Little kids prepared beautiful thali for raksha bandhan. Children were familiarized with the customs and rituals of the festival.

Students represented various regions and communities of India adorning traditional costumes. The students dressed in traditional attire. Tilak ceremony was done by the class teachers. Students were told about the importance of sacred bond of brother and sister. Students also participated in rakhi making competition and made various kinds of rakhis. Every students experiment with different material to make rakhi. The girl students tied Rakhi to boys and shared chocolates and sweets. Teachers also shared mythological stories of the festival rakhi along its the significance. Students on the occasion tied rakhis on each other's hands. Some girls don’t have brothers they tie rakhi on their friend’s wrist and they ritualize Raksha Bandhan like this,

While speaking at the moment President Manav Singla said that all the festivals are integral part of our culture .Tying rakhi is a wonderful way of expressing warmth .He further added that due to nuclear families, children today are deprived of true spirit of such festivals. Such celebrations in schools teach students about our traditions and always keep children connected to our roots and culture.
