MOHALI: The Rayat Bahra University celebrated 76th Republic Day with enthusiasm and patriotic fervour. The programme commenced with the unfurling of Tricolour by Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Chancellor of the University, at an impressive function on the university campus.

Speaking on the occasion, Bahra said that Republic Day is one of India’s most important national events as the constitution made India a sovereign, democratic and republican state. On this day India finally enjoyed the freedom of spirit, rule of law and fundamental principle governance. The patriotic zeal of the Indian people on this day brings the whole country together even in its embedded diversity.

Vice-Chancellor Dr Parvinder Singh, speaking on the occasion, said the democratic rights which we enjoy today are the outcome of the sacrifices of our freedom fighters and the architects of our Constitution.

A cultural bonanza of dances and folk songs from the different states was the main attraction of the function and the audience was spell bound to see the performance. On this occasion, employees associated with the university for a long time were also specially honoured
