National Voter Day Celebrated at Guru Nanak Dev University

AMRITSAR: Guru Nanak Dev University celebrated National Voter's Day under the leadership of Prof. Karamjeet Singh, Vice Chancellor. The event aimed to promote electoral participation and raise awareness about the importance of voting in a democratic society. Employees from various departments and branches gathered to mark this significant occasion.

The ceremony began with an oath-taking session led by Dr. Rajesh Kalia, Deputy Registrar Finance, who emphasized the responsibility of every citizen in exercising their right to vote. The theme of this year’s celebration centered on encouraging greater voter engagement among youth and first-time voters. Speeches highlighted the vital role that informed voting plays in shaping the future of our nation.

Vice Chancellor expressed his gratitude towards the Election Commission of India for their ongoing efforts to enhance electoral participation across all demographics. “It is our collective responsibility to ensure that every voice is heard, and every vote counts, ” he added. Prof. Palwinder Singh, Dean Academic Affairs and Prof. K.S. Kahlon, Registrar said that this event not only served as a reminder of civic duties but also reinforced Guru Nanak Dev University's commitment to fostering democratic values within its community.
