Healthy food fest organised at Rayat Bahra University

CHANDIGARH: Healthy Food Festival was organised by the Department of Life Sciences under the banner of Red Ribbon Club, Mohali and Mahatma Gandhi National Council for Rural Education. The Food Festival received overwhelming response from the participants and visitors.

Participants prepared healthy and innovative dishes which were judged by the external jury members on the basis of nutritional value, taste and presentation. Seven best dishes were declared by jury members.

Chancellor Gurvinder Singh Bahra, who was the Chief Guest at the function, interacted with the participants and appreciated their efforts in preparing nutritious food. He stressed that today’s generation must learn about the basic techniques like food preparation, driving and other routine skills.

Vice-Chancellor Dr Parvinder Singh, Guest of Honour, appreciated the healthy items prepared by students and motivated them to broaden their horizons to take it to startup’s level.

Dean Students Welfare and Convener of the event Dr Simerjit Kaur stated that the purpose of organising this festival was to spread the awareness among the young generation to choose the healthy lifestyle in this fast-moving life.

Dr Manoj Bali, Dean, USS, appreciated the students’ efforts and motivated them to follow a healthy lifestyle.

The following were winners of the event:

First position bagged by Bhumi from Department of Life Sciences for Dish Fluffy Bread Chamcham. Second position was bagged by Saurabh Kumar from Department of Commerce for Dish for Protein Rich Oats. Third position went to Astha Chand from Hotel Management for Dish Grilled Vegetables.

Consolation prizes were won by students from Fashion Technology For Dish Makki Ki Roti & Sarson ka Saag with Lassi; Harpreet Kaur for Chilla with Jaggery Makhana; Rajvir from DMLT for Nutritious Panjiri with Makhana; Himani for Suji Sandwich with Coconut & Peanut Chutney; Fatima from Food Science for Vegetable Cutlet; Simran for Dry Healthy Poha Mixture; Rashika for Suji k Appe.

Winners were awarded with medals along with Certificate of Appreciation by the Vice-Chancellor and Dean Students Welfare.
