International Workshop on “Applied Analytical and Storytelling for Data-Driven Decision Making” Starts at PU

CHANDIGARH: Global Initiative of Academic Networks (GIAN) international workshop on “Applied Analytical and Storytelling for Data-Driven Decision Making” commenced at University Institute of Applied Management Sciences (UIAMS), Panjab University (PU), here today.

The GIAN is a key initiative of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) to encourage engagement between international scientists and entrepreneurs and Indian higher education institutions.

Faculty of Supply Chain Management at MacEwan University’s Department of Decision Sciences, Edmonton, Canada, Dr. Parminder Singh Kang is the resource person for the prestigious workshop. The 10-day workshop features 38 hours of interactive sessions designed to enhance participants’ analytical and storytelling skills for data-driven decision-making.

The PU Director (R&DC), Prof. Yojna Rawat was the chief guest at the inaugural session. Addressing the session, she underscored the critical importance of responsible data interpretation and communication. “Data alone is insufficient; it is the ability to contextualize and present it through compelling narratives that transforms raw data into actionable insights, ” she added. Her remarks stressed how data-driven stories can inspire trust, capture attention, and drive meaningful action.

Earlier, the inaugural session began with a formal welcome by Prof. Sanjeev Kumar Sharma, Course Coordinator and Professor at UIAMS. He highlighted the need for the program. The local collaborator, PU, Prof. Gurjaspreet Singh highlighted the key objectives of the GIAN workshop.

The session concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Monika Aggarwal, Course Coordinator and Director, UIAMS. She extended special gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Renu Vig, Panjab University, the Ministry of Education, and GIAN for their unwavering support and this invaluable learning opportunity. Faculty members and students from various departments actively participated in the event, reflecting its broad academic impact.

Research Scholar Ms. Bhawna acted as student coordinator, contributing to its smooth organization and execution.
