Guru Nanak Dev University celebrated Birthday of Novelist Nanak Singh

AMRITSAR: Guru Nanak Dev University celebrated the birthday of renowned Punjabi novelist S. Nanak Singh in collaboration with the S. Nanak Singh Literary Foundation and the Nanak Singh Literary Center at Bhai Gurdas Library of the University. The event was organized under the guidance of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu.

Dr. Manjinder Singh, Head of School of Punjabi Studies highlighted S. Nanak Singh's significant contributions to Punjabi literature and emphasized his unique style as a novelist. Born on July 4, 1897 in Chak Hameed (Pakistan), S. Nanak Singh created literature across various genres including poetry, short stories, and novels.

Dr. Harinder Kaur Sohal, Coordinator of the Nanak Singh Center, praised S.Nanak's creative imagination which brought forth a unique artistic aesthetic in Punjabi literature through his novels. His works addressed social issues such as economic inequality, corruption, hypocrisy and communalism etc..
The event included participation from teachers Dr.Megha Salwan, Dr.Baljit Kaur, Dr.Rajwinder Kaur, other teachers along with a group of research scholars and students from the school
