DBU celebrates its 11th foundation day

MANDI GOBINDGARH: Desh Bhagat University, Mandi Gobindgarh celebrated its 11th foundation day at University Campus. The event commenced with the garlanding of the statues of S. Lal Singh, freedom fighter by the dignitaries.

This was followed by lighting of the ceremonial lamp and the recitation of the DBU anthem. Dr LS Bedi, Dean of Academic Affairs of the University, welcomed the chief guest Dr Zora Singh, Chancellor, Desh Bhagat University, Dr Tajinder Kaur, Pro Chancellor and Dr Sandeep Singh, President, who joined the event online.

Dr JK Sharma, Director, IEDC gave a presentation on DBU’s foundation, motto, past achievements and future projects.

Dr Zora Singh congratulated all the faculty, staff and students on the 11th foundation day of the University. He paid obeisance to his father, a renowned freedom fighter - S. Lal Singh. He said that it was his dream to spread education among every section of society. Due to his vision, DBU has evolved as a medium to serve the students belonging to the underprivileged sections of the society by its numerous scholarship schemes and entrepreneurship programmes.

After that, the cultural programme was presented by the students in which folk dance forms of Punjab- Gidha and Bhagra, song recitation and street plays were performed. Dr IS Sethi, Director of Research and Dr Parmod Mandal, Director (Academics), addressed the students.

At the end of the event Dr Surjeet Patheja, Director, Performing Arts and Media, proposed a vote of thanks.
