CHANDIGARH: Chandigarh Hockey Football Academy and Sri Guru Gobind Singh Hockey Club, Sector 26 won the men's and women's trophies respectively in the Chandigarh State Hockey Championship at the Sector 42 Hockey Stadium here.
State-run Chandigarh Hockey Football Academy overcame a stiff resistance from Central Industrial Security Force by 6-4 in the men's final while in the women's final, SGGS Hockey Club accounted for Panjab University Hockey Club by 4-0.
CFH Academy were quick to forge ahead with a field goal in the first minute through Surinder. Paramvir doubled the margin with a field goal in the sixth minute. CISF swung into action and earned a penalty corner which was converted by Nithin. CISF forced another penalty corner and this time Yograj converted it make it 2-2.
Surinder scored two more goals for CFH Academy in the 12th and 30th minute. Paramvir completed his brace by scoring his second goal in the 29th minute as CFH Academy took a 4-2 lead. Yograj converted another penalty corner in the 33rd minute to reduce the margin to 3-5. Ankit contributed a goal in the 37th minute, It was the fourth goal for CISF. Prabhjot rounded off the winners' tally with a field goal in the 51st minute.
