Meets with ailing Jagjeet Singh Dallewal
CHANDIGARH: Youth Akali Dal (YAD) President Sarabjeet Singh Jhinjer visited the protesting farmers at Khanauri border, extending his support and solidarity to their cause. He also met with ailing farm leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who is sitting on a fast unto death.
Jhinjer strongly condemned the BJP government's apathy towards the farmers' plight. "The BJP government's indifference to the farmers' demands is appalling. They have turned a blind eye to the suffering of our farmers, and it's time they take immediate action to address their concerns, " said Jhinjer.
He urged the Central government to immediately agree to the demand of Minimum Support Price (MSP) to save the life of Jagjit Singh Dallewal and other protesters who are getting injured due to the brute force used by the Haryana police.
"The Central government must intervene immediately to prevent any further harm to our farmers. They must provide the MSP as promised and ensure that the farmers' demands are met. The use of force, tear gas, water cannons, and shells against peaceful protesters is unacceptable, and the Haryana government must be held accountable, " said Jhinjer.
Jhinjer also emphasized that as a farmer himself, he stands in solidarity with the farmers. "We will not back down until our demands are met. The BJP government must listen to the farmers and take concrete steps to resolve their issues, " added Jhinjer.
Jhinjer also slammed the Haryana Police and Haryana Government for using brute force on farmers at the Shambu border. "The farmers only want to peacefully march to Delhi to ask for their rights. The use of force against them is unacceptable and the Haryana Government must be held accountable, " said Jhinjer.
Furthermore, Jhinjer condemned the derogatory remarks made by BJP's Rajya Sabha MP Ram Chander Jangra against the farmers. "Jangra's vicious remarks against our farmers are utterly despicable. His baseless claims of a rise in drug use and missing women during the 2021 farmers' agitation are not only defamatory but also expose the BJP's mentality against our Annadatas. It's appalling that the BJP refuses to take action against these hate mongers, further highlighting their disdain for the farming community, " said Jhinjer.
"If anything happens to Jagjit Singh Dallewal ji, the BJP government will be directly responsible. They must take immediate action to save his life and meet the demands of the farmers, " added Jhinjer.
