PATIALA: On the Occasion of World Cancer day, a talk was organized in the Department of Radiation Oncology today, in the Presence of Dr. H. S. Rekhi, Medical Superintendent, Dr. Vinod Kumar Dangwal, Deputy Medical Superintendent, Rajindra Hospital Patiala.
Taking part in deliberations, Dr. H. S. Rekhi explained about the services available in Rajindra Hospital and Radiation Oncology Department for the treatment of cancer. He also informed about the future planning of Government of Punjab for the installation of PET SCAN in Rajindra Hospital Patiala for the benefit of Cancer patients. Dr. Raja Paramjeet Singh (Professor and Head, Radiation Oncology) explained the different modalities of Cancer treatment i.e. Radiotherapy, Chemotherapy and Palliative Care. Dr. Vinod Kumar Dangwal explained about Linear Accelerator machine which is used in the institution for the treatment of Cancer patients.
Similarly, Dr. Harjot Kaur Bagga (Emeritus Professor) briefly explained about Breast Cancer, Dr. Ashuma Bansal ( Assistant Professor) delivered lecture on Carcinoma Cervix and Dr. Neeru Bedi (Senior Resident) informed the attendees about symptoms and treatment of Head and Neck Cancer. Nursing staff Ms. Garima Sharma and Ms. Baljeet kaur also explained different types of cancer and treatment and also reply to the patient queries.
