PHILLAUR:Former Punjab Youth Congress president and Phillaur assembly constituency incharge Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary met with AICC Punjab affairs incharge Harish Chaudhary and Secretary Chetan Chauhan at Jalandhar District Congress office on Friday. He was accompanied by elected representatives of Zila Parishad, Block Panchayat Samitis, Municipal Councils, Market Committees, and other Congress leaders of Phillaur constituency.
During the meeting, Vikramjit Chaudhary apprised Harish Chaudhary about the completed and ongoing development works in Phillaur. The two leaders stressed the need to take welfare programmes of the Punjab government to every beneficiary and ensure that no deserving citizen remained deprived of their benefits.
Both the leaders took stock of the political developments in the constituency and deliberated in detail about the strategy for upcoming assembly polls.
Highlighting that several other political parties have announced their candidates from Phillaur, the elected representatives urged Harish Chaudhary to declare Vikramjit Chaudhary as the Congress party's candidate at the earliest.
The candidates of other parties have started their election campaign, and therefore, the Congress should not wait any longer to announce the candidacy of Vikramjit Chaudhary, they said.
"Thanks to the development and welfare works carried out by Congress government, there is no doubt that the Congress will come back to power again and the people of Phillaur would also repose their faith in the Congress party, " said Vikramjit after the meeting.
