PHAGWARA: Pall of gloom descended in village Mallpur-Adhhka near Nawanshahr when the residents came. to know about a tragic incident--Three members of a family including a carpenter Avtar Singh his wife Sonia and 16 years old daughter reportedly committed suicide by consuming poisonous substance(Celphas) today.
The reports received here late tonight said domestic quarrel was said to be the cause of suicide. Both mother daughter took extreme step in the presence of Avtar Singh who also consumed celephas later when both mother-daughter went unconscious.
Smt Sonia and her 16 years daughter first consumed poison and were admitted in a private hospital in Nawanshahr in serious condition. Bother mother-daughter duo breathed their last in the hospital.
Avtar Singh was brought to civil hospital Nawanshahr where he was declared dead.
Meanwhile Amarjit Singh brother of the deceased Sonia alleged that her husband Avtar Singh was habitual for excessive drinking alcohol which caused daily quarrel in the family. Unfortunately the deceased Sonia took extreme step after sending her younger daughter to School. The Police have sent the bodies to civil Hospital Nawanshahr mortuary for post-mortem examination.
