AMRITSAR: Amritsar residents, police and administration are gearing up for anti-drug mobilization in the month of October and November and are going to launch an exclusive program called 'The Hope Initiative' to make Punjab drug free. It will prove to be a milestone in the campaign funded by the government.
Commissioner of Police Mr. Nounihal Singh expressed in the press conference that although the police is working continuously to break the supply of drugs, but the cooperation of the community, especially the youth, is very important to stop the demand for drugs. He said that with this campaign, we will try to create awareness among the youth against drug addiction, make them intend for good work, take Guru's Oath and create interest in sp orts.
He said that Amritsar, where Sri Darbar Sahib inspires us to have faith in Wahiguru, there is no better place for such a start than the Jallian Wala Bagh, a symbol of sacrifice and institutions like Khalsa College, which ignite the flame of education in us.
He said that Chief Minister Punjab Bhagwant Singh Maan is determined to make Punjab drug free by 15th August 2024 and our campaign will go a long way in eradicating this scourge.
He said that we, along with thousands of youths, will bow down to Sri Darbar Sahib and seek the Guru's blessings to make Punjab drug-free. We will reach Jallian Wale Bagh and resolve to end the enemy of Punjab like Shaheed Udham Singh. Similarly, thousands of youngsters, with more than 1000 teams, will participate in the Street Cricket League in Amritsar.
He said that these matches will be held in different grounds of Amritsar and prizes of 15 lakh rupees will be given to the winning teams.
He said that any player above 14 years can participate in this tournament and the tournament will be in knock out format. Keeping in mind maximum participation of youth and teams in the tournament, entry has been kept free. He said that our team has been working for a long time to ensure the maximum contribution of the youth and common people in this campaign and more than 700 meetings have been held directly with the people, in which we have received a great response from every section. found .
He said that similarly in the whole campaign, we are getting full support from the district administration, Deputy Commissioner Mr. Amit Talwar, Corporation Commissioner Mr. Rahul and other non-governmental organizations.
