KAPURTHALA: Deputy Commissioner Kapurthala Mrs. Deepti Uppal said that to ensure that there should be no difficulty in availing the benefit of free bus travel to women, special teams have been formed to ensure its implementation in true spirit and manner.
She said that the Punjab Government has authorized the Block Level Officers of the Women and Child Development department as the Grievance Redressal Authority for any kind of grievance etc. for free travel. In addition, women can register their complaints on the 181 helpline.
Teams formed by the Deputy Commissioner to implement this scheme at the grass root level led by District Program Officer Mrs. Sneha Lata and Mrs. Bitti Manchanda in charge of Sakhi One top Center contacted the women at various bus stands in the district besides knowing any difficulties in the journey.
She said that especially the women of the villages who travel daily for financial affairs and self-employment should be contacted and asked to keep the required photo identity card.
Deputy Commissioner said that the main objective of this scheme was to provide free travel facility to the girls for the education besides to give a boost to the contribution of women in the economy of the state.
GM, PRTC kapurthala Praveen Kumar informed that 3875 women in the entire district have availed the benefit of fare exemption. On first April 1125 and on April 2nd 2750 women were provided free travel.
