AMRITSAR: Former Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib and Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, Giani Harpreet Singh said that the Sikh institutions themselves are responsible for the BJPization of Sikh institutions.

Talking to reporters today, Giani Harpreet Singh said that first, to fulfill political objectives, the BJP members allied with Sikh politicians and then interfered to capture Sikh institutions and this party took control of these institutions by creating division among Sikh institutions.

He said that Sikhs should save their institutions. In response to a question about the ongoing religious conversion movement in Punjab, the Jathedar said that people are being converted by luring them with money and facilities, which is highly condemnable.

He also condemned the attack in Pahalgam and said that this attack caused the most harm to the people of Kashmir. The Government of India should take strict action against the culprits involved in this attack, so that such incidents do not happen in the future.

Condemning the incident that happened with Giani Raghbir Singh , Head Granthi of Sri Darbar Sahib at Delhi Airport, the Jathedar said that the SGPC should talk to the airlines so that the respect of religious personalities is maintained.

Talking about the five-member Committee of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, the Jathedar said that this committee is recruiting as per the spirit of the Hukamnama and as per the rules and in the coming time, a new leadership will emerge and will speak for the interests of the Panth.

In response to a question about the elections of the SGPC, the Jathedar said that these elections should be held as soon as possible and all Sikh organizations should come together and contest these elections and the current occupying party should be thrown out.

Regarding the ongoing discussion to regulate the appointment and retirement of Jathedars, the Jathedar said that the SGPC has not asked for suggestions from him, but if it asks, we will definitely give suggestions.
