AMRITSAR: Cabinet Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal today specially visited Amritsar's grain markets Bhagtanwala and Rajasansi to review the wheat procurement.

He reviewed the procurement on this occasion and taking the delay in lifting seriously, asked the officials of the procurement agencies to ensure lifting of wheat within two days.

He said that the wheat season is of few days, sometimes when lifting does not happen, the middlemen pay the goods to the traders. This is what is happening in Bhagtanwala grain market. Here, private procurement is continuously increasing compared to government procurement, but our effort is that government procurement is also done along with private agencies, that is possible only if lifting is ensured simultaneously. He also directed to blacklist the tender car that did not fulfill the tender conditions.

Taking note of the wheat lying in the open in Bhagtanwala grain market, the Cabinet Minister said that after this season, two big sheds will be built in the market so that the crop does not get spoiled during the rainy season. He said that such arrangements will be ensured in the markets which are required by the farmers, laborers and arhtiyas. After this, he also reviewed the Rajasansi grain market and expressing satisfaction over the ongoing procurement, directed to speed up the lifting.

On this occasion, District Mandi Officer Amandeep Singh, District Food Officer . Amanjit Singh Sandhu and officers of various procurement agencies were also with him.
