NAWANSHAHR: Dr. Shena Aggarwal today assumed charge as Deputy Commissioner of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district (Nawanshahr) . She said that prevention of people of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district from Covid-19 , advance anti-flood arrangements during the ensuing rainy season as river Sutlej passes through the district and transparent administration for the common man would be her top three priorities.
A graduate of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Dr. Shena is a 2012 batch IAS officer. She is a topper of both MBBS and her IAS batches.
After serving as Additional Deputy Commissioner, Bathinda and Ludhiana, she was serving as the Chief Administrator, Jalandhar Development Authority and Chief Executive Officer, Jalandhar Smart City Limited.
Before assuming office, she was given a 'Guard of Honor' by a district police contingent led by ASI Kamal Raj, while ADC (G) Aditya Uppal, ADC (Development) Sarabjit Singh Walia, SP (H) Manvinder Bir Singh, SDM Nawanshahr Jagdish Singh Johal, SDM Balachaur Jasbir Singh, SDM Banga Deepjot Kaur and Civil Surgeon Dr. Rajinder Bhatia were present.
Talking to media persons after assuming office, she said that she was thankful to the Punjab government for giving her the opportunity to start her career as Deputy Commissioner from the holy land of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district. Her first responsibility will be to solve the problems of the people in this district associated with Bhagat Singh, to carry out development works and to make people's access to administration, transparent and easy.
Apart from the above officers of the district, the new DC also held a formal meeting with Tehsildars - Kulwant Singh Nawanshahr, Ajitpal Singh Banga and Chetan Bangar Balachaur, DSSO Santosh Virdi, DPO Gurcharan Singh and DFSC Rakesh Bhaskar. She also got a brief overview of what's going on in the district.
She was also apprised about the progress of Mission Fateh launched by the Punjab government to spread awareness about Corona virus among the people by the officials .
