DUGHAT(Patiala): The 24 hours safe drinking water supply from the water supply scheme constructed under the Rural Water Supply Programme at village Dughat on Bhadson Road has been proving boon by freeing the residents of this village from the scarcity of drinking water. Due to the availability of clean drinking water in every house of the village 24 hours a day, the life of the people, who could not even install submersible pumps etc. in their homes, has become easier with the supply of this chlorinated water.
Swaranjit Kaur, Sarpanch and Chairperson of the Gram Panchayat Water Supply and Sanitation Committee said that this water tank with a capacity of 25000 liters of water has 155 connections covering every house in the village and everyone pays their monthly dues in time. Committee Secretary Gurjant Singh said that all the villagers were happy with the uninterrupted water supply and now no one needs to get installed water RO in their house.
Committee Treasurer Jaswinder Singh said that before the starting of water supply, he had a stomach ache but since he started safe drinking water from this water supply, he has got rid of stomach ailments.
Jasveer Singh, another resident of the village, said that they are getting the portable water at very cheap rates and with the supply of this water in the village, the people have become caring of sanitation around their surroundings and started conserving water.
Pump operator Gursewak Singh said that he supplies chlorinated water in the morning and evening. Jasveer Kaur, a resident of the village and Anganwari worker said that earlier she was in dire need of drinking water but now she is getting clean water 24 hours a day. On this occasion IEC Coordinator from Water Supply and Sanitation Department, Veerpal Dixit and BRC Sapna Susan said that the people of the village are fully aware of water conservation and water saving.
