Punjab Education Minister clears 74 names for Teachers Awards

CHANDIGARH: Punjab School Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains today accorded his approvel to the list of 74 teachers to be honored by the Punjab government on Teacher's Day under three categories.

According to the approved list, the Teacher State Award will be given to 55 teachers who have excelled in their fields, while the Young Teacher Award to be presented to 10 teachers. Apart from this, nine teachers have been selected for Administrative Awards.

Extending the words of congratulations to the selected teachers, the Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains expressed hope that these teachers will become torch bearer for other counterparts as well as inspire their students.

Harjot Bains said that the Punjab government is going to organise a state-level function on September 5 on Teacher’s Day at Virasat-e-Khalsa, Sri Anandpur Sahib and Chief Minister Bhagwant Maan will be the Chief Guest on this occasion.

Speaking about the selection criteria for these awards, the Education Minister asserted that the awarded names have been finalised by State Level Jury after the recommendations of District Level Committees in free, fair and transparent manner.

Similarly, 10 teachers, who would be given Young Teacher Award, included; Mahak Kapoor from GSSS Chabba of district Amritsar, Sonika Gupta from GHS Chuwarian Wali of district Fazilka, Jaspal Singh from GHS Ibban of district Kapurthala, Renu Bala from GSSS Girls Budhlada of district Mansa, Lucky Goyal from GSSS Malout (G) of district Sri Muktsar Sahib, Chinu from Shaheed Subedar Balbir Singh Govt. High School Dappar of district SAS Nagar, Jatinder Kumar from GPS Wander Patti Kot Shamir of district Bathinda, Vandana Heer from GPS Chadial of district Hoshiarpur, Satnam Kaur from GPS Raipur Sani of district Roopnagar and Himanshu Singla from GPS Lehragaga (Girls) of district Sangrur.

Likewise, 9 Administrative Awards would be bestowed upon the teachers, which included; Sarbjeet Singh Toor DEO (SE/EE) of district Barnala, Harpal Singh, DEO (SE) of district Gurdaspur, Pardeep Kumar Dy DEO (SE) district Faridkot, Sandeep Nagar DIET Principal of district Patiala, Balvir Kaur BPEO Jakhwali of district Fatehgarh Sahib, Jaspal Singh BPEO Jalalabad-1 of district Fazilka, Neeraj Kumar BPEO Dhariwal-1 of district Gurdaspur, Bal Krishan Mehmi BPEO Kartarpur of district Jalandhar and Prithi Singh BPEO Patiala-2 of district Patiala.
