Phoolka asks Sidhu and other MLAs who raised sacrilege issue to resign

CHANDIGARH: H.S.Phoolka senior Supreme Court lawyer and former  MLA from Dakha has declared that he would not contest any election in future. His resignation, given last, was accepted by the Speaker Punjab Vidhan Sabha few days back.

Phoolka while addressing a press conference here said that he had resigned in protest against failure of Capt Amarinder Singh government to arrest the accused of sacrilege of Guru Grnath Sahib. He said that he was not in politics for any gains but to fight for rights of people. He said that he was upset to see that no action was being taken against the culprits who hurt the Sikh sentiments.

Phoolka asked former minister Navjot Sidhu and all other MLAs who had raised the issue shall resign if action was not being taken against the accused. Phoolka said that six MLAs were very vocal on the issue. They are Navjot Sidhu, Ramanjit Singh Sikki, Harminder Singh Gill, Simarjeet Singh Bains, Balwinder Singh Bains and Sukhpal Singh Khaira. He said that their resignation will put pressure on the state government.

Phoolka said that Congress was giving Akalis an opportunity to improve their image and wriggle out of the matter. He said that special Akalis were getting beenfit of failue of government to prosecute the accused. He said that Justice Ranjit Singh commission has nailed the real accused but no action was being taken against them.

Phoolka said that he would continue to run welfare schemes of health and education in his constituency without contesting the elections.
