Patiala Heritage Walk Captivates Audiences During Patiala Heritage Festival 2024

PATIALA: As part of the ongoing Patiala Heritage Festival 2024, the city witnessed the 140th Heritage Walk, a collaborative effort between Patiala Foundation's Project *iHERITAGE* and the District Administration, Patiala. Led by Ravee Singh Ahluwalia, Chief Executive Officer of Patiala Foundation, the walk embarked from Shahi Samadhan and strolled through the old city streets, immersing participants in the rich tapestry of Patiala's cultural history.

The Patiala Heritage Walk, an initiative by Patiala Foundation, aims to unveil the city's vibrant heritage to the younger generation. By guiding school children and college students through various historical sites, the walk encourages a sense of appreciation and ownership of Patiala's legacy. Participants were sensitised to the importance of heritage preservation, emphasising the need to protect these cultural treasures from senseless modernisation and defacement.

The event which was held under the guidance of Sh Shawkat Ahmad Parray, Deputy Commissioner Patiala saw esteemed dignitaries including along with notable attendees such as Sh Harjinder Singh, ADC(D) who flagged off the Walk from Shahi Samadhan, Sh Arvind Kumar SDM Patiala, Ms Ravinder Kaur DFSC, Patiala, Sh. Ravee Singh Ahluwalia, Founder Patiala Foundation, Sh RK Sharma, Chairman Patiala Foundation, Sh HS Ahluwalia, Sh SP Chand, Sh Pawan Goyal, Anmoljit Singh, Harpreet Sandhu, and a dedicated team of Patiala Foundation volunteers.

Expressing his commitment to the cause, the Chief Functionary of Patiala Foundation affirmed that initiatives like the Heritage Walk for school children will continue, underscoring the importance of education and awareness in preserving Patiala's cultural heritage.The one-hour-long walk concluded with overwhelming support and enthusiastic participation of Students and Staff members of YPS Patiala, MM Modi College, Patiala, Govt. College for Girls, Patiala.

Patiala Foundation is working on various Social welfare projects since 2009. Patiala Foundation has been accorded with Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (UN-ECOSOC) since 2018. We had initiated our iHERITAGE Project (UN-SDG 8, 9, 11, 15&17) under which we are working towards the recognition of Heritage sites in the state of Punjab.

iHERITAGE is an initiative to motivate people to engage with their Heritage. Under this initiative, various engaging events have been conducted to create awareness about Heritage and culture.We have also signed a MOU with PHTPB for promoting the tourism and Heritage walk routes in the state of Punjab.
