NAKODAR:Even though the Punjab chief minister office (CMO) had directed director general police (DGP) to act for free travel vouchers for Punjab Home Guards twenty one months ago but volunteers are still waiting for free bus passes.

Secretary Chief Minister office on May 24 , 2019 in an email message to DGP  said that Dilbag Singh ‘s representation sent to the chief minister on May 3 is sent to you in original for immediate necessary action as per government rules/policy adding that complainant should be informed directly about the action taken.

Dilbag Singh, a social activist and a resident of Baina Pur village in a representation to the chief minister had  said that the state government, at a meeting of ministers in December 2011, approved recommendations of the cabinet committee to offer free bus travel facility to Home Guard volunteers in roadways buses.

But the Punjab Home Guards department has not yet issued vouchers to its volunteers for free travel in roadways buses even as more than six years passed since the government took the decision.

He said that an assistant in Director General Office (home guards) had informed him that finance department had  refused to issue a requisite notification in this regard.Dilbag Singh said that he has not received any information from DGP office on his representation.
