CHANDIGARH: Prominent Sikh farmer leader and National Delegate of All India Jatt Mahasabha and Chandigarh State President Rajinder Singh Badheri strongly condemned the attack on BJP MLA Arun Narang at Malout today and said that such behavior was not tolerable in a democracy. He said that through such incidents some mischievous elements may be involved to weaken the peasant movement.
In a statement, Badheri termed the incident in Malout as "unfortunate" and said that in a democracy, everyone should be given a chance to have their say and everyone should respect the right of every citizen of the country to speak. He said that at present the peasant movement was heading in the right direction to achieve its goals but such incidents would prove fatal for the peasant movement. He appealed to all the farmers to stay away from such illegal activities as no one can be allowed to take the law into their own hands. The farmers themselves should be aware of such elements so that the agencies do not succeed in discrediting the farmers' movement.
