PATIALA:Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to lay the foundation stone of new building of Maharaja Bhupinder Singh Punjab Sports University at village Sidhuwal on October 25. The campus of the Sports University would come up at a cost of Rs 500 crore in around 96 acres of land.
Divulging the details while taking part in the review meeting with VC Lt. Gen. J S Cheema and DC Kumar Amit at Mahindra Kothi Camp office Patiala, Director Sports and Youth Services, Punjab Er. D P S Kharbanda said that in the first phase, building at a cost of Rs. 60 crore that would house three administrative blocks, Separate hostels for boys and girls having capacity of 400 each would be constructed. He said that this University already running courses of Bachelor of Physical Education and M.P.Ed and the new admissions have received overwhelming response from budding players and young students.
Assessing the basic arrangements and the ground level situation at village Sidhuwal, the officials assigned duties to various departments and officials, so that this program could be carried out smoothly.
On this occasion the Registrar of the University Mrs. Surbhi Malik, SP (H) Mr. Navneet Singh Bains, Assistant Commissioner General Dr. Ismat Vijay Singh, Deputy Director Sports Mr. Kartar Singh Sambhi, Assistant Director Sports Mr. Sunil Kumar, Executive Engineer Sports Department Mr. Sanjay Mahajan, Executive Engineer Electrical Davinderveer Kondal, Executive Engineer PWD Sohan Lal Garg and District Sports Officers Patiala, Sangrur, Bathinda, Ferozepur, Mansa and Rupnagar were also present.
