CHANDIGARH: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) raised the issue of delay in the election of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) in the Vidhan Sabha on Tuesday.
Senior leader of the party and Leader of Opposition (LoP) Harpal Singh Cheema said that Captain Amarinder Singh government was responsible for the delay in the SGPC elections. He said that even after the appointment of Election Commissioner, he has not been given any space for the office where he can sit and work and formulate election strategy. He said that Captain Amarinder Singh had in fact joined hands with the Akali Dal due to which he did not want the elections to be held and was using laxity.
Cheema said that if the SGPC elections were to be held then the Sikh Sangat would remove the Badal Dal. "Therefore, Captain Sahab does not want the Badal Dal to be expelled from the SGPC, " he added. He said that the Akali Dal and Captain Amarinder Singh are hand in glove and it is because of their connivance, that all kinds of plundering is taking place in Punjab today.
