CHANDIGARH: Terming it as a pro-people document, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Sunil Jakhar has lauded state Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal for coming out with an all encompassing Budget which would give a new direction to social and economic development of all sections of state.
Under the stewardship of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, Punjab government has efficiently demonstrated its ability to spearhead its forward looking outlook with concrete results, Jakhar said pointing out that achieving such fiscal discipline in times of unprecedented destruction due to Covid stress was highly commendable.
The whole nation is reeling under utter economic stress due to failed economic policies of Modi regime, Jakhar said underlining that amidst all this Punjab has shown the way to manage financial resources prudently to safeguard interest of each section of society.
Increase in old age pension from Rs 750 to 1500, besides enhancing Aashirwad amount to Rs 51, 000 from 21, 000 not only fulfil the poll promises, but also reflect Captain Amarinder Singh government's sense of duty towards its senior citizens, Jakhar added. The gift of free bus travel for women on Women's Day is also a big decision which is laudable. Similarly, Jakhar said allocation of Rs 526 Crores for landless farm labourers will provide big relief to the lower sections of society.
