Badal family should make public minutes of protest against agriculture bills in Modi's cabinet: AAP

ਪੰਜਾਬ ਨਿਊਜ਼ ਐਕਸਪ੍ਰੈਸ | September 28, 2020 10:41 PM

CHANDIGARH: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab's Senior Leader and Leader of Opposition Harpal Singh Cheema has demanded the Chief Minister Amarinder Singh to convene an all party meeting to formulate the next strategy against draconian laws on agriculture and representatives of trade union, commission agents-traders' representatives, agricultural and economic experts should also be included in the meeting.

In a statement issued from the party headquarters, Harpal Singh Cheema said that the double standards of the Amarinder Singh government and the Badal family had emboldened the Modi government to go to this extent. If Amarinder Singh had not given his tacit consent to the Central High Power Committee on Agriculture Bills with sincere intentions and the Badal family would have drawn the line on the very first day to oppose these deadly ordinances and support the peasant struggle in unison, the Modi government would not have had the courage to introduce these black laws in parliament. Cheema asked the Chief Minister why he did not take a delegation to meet the Prime Minister at the all-party meeting during which the decision was to be taken. What is the conspiracy behind this? Shouldn't the Chief Minister apologize for this negligence?

Cheema said that today the Chief Minister is offering to lead, while he has failed to fulfill the responsibility given to him three months ago. Cheema alleged that like the Badals, Amarinder Singh was under a lot of pressure from Modi due to their foreign bank accounts, foreign guests and corruption.

Harpal Singh Cheema said that the Badal family which had been advocating for agriculture laws at all levels for three-four months had been shaken by the united forces of farmers' organizations, Aam Aadmi Party and all sections. Harpal Singh Cheema challenged that the minutes of the Modi Cabinet meeting in which Harsimrat Kaur Badal had opposed the Agriculture Ordinances be made public.
