AMRITSAR: Giani Raghbir Singh Jathedar of Akal Takht and Giani Sultan Singh Jathedar Takht Sri Kesgarh sahib have released a new Nanakshahi calander for Sammat 557 here today.
Raghbir Singh appealed to the Sikh world to celebrate Gurpurab and other historical days as per Nanakshahi calander.
He said that every nation has had its own calendar, according to which the nations celebrate his religious days . The Sikh community is proud of its calendar representing its originality and uniqueness.
Giani Sultan Singh appealed to the Sikh world to set up the Nanashahi calendar in every Guru-House and their homes.

Balwinder Singh Kahlavs, Me Meet Secretary Harbhajan Singh echo, superintendent.Prof (Dr) Amit Kauts, welcomed Prof (Dr) Karamjeet Singh, worthy vice chancellor of GNDU, Visiting Speaker Prof (Dr) Shahnawaz, Senior Scientist, Department of Geoinformatics-Z_GIS, University of Salzburg, Austria, and approximately thirty eight participants emphasising the significance of interdisciplinary approaches in understanding climate change and environmental management. Prof (Dr) Shahnawaz, Senior Scientist, Z_GIS, University of Salzburg, Austria, is conducting a five days’ interdisciplinary workshop enhancing the skills and expertise of the participants in the above said areas. He is sharing insights on cutting-edge geospatial technologies and their application in environmental monitoring and disaster mitigation strategies. Along with that there will be hands on session on how to collect climatic related data and analysis tools.
