AMRITSAR: A petition was submitted under the signatures of more than 40 Shiromani Gurdwara Committee {SGPC} members to bring a re solution to cancel the anti-Panthic resolutions passed in the meeting of the Interim Committee recently.
To cancel the resolutions to remove Jathedar Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Raghubir Singh, Jathedar of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib Giani Harpreet Singh, Jathedar of Takht Sri Keshgarh Sahib Giani Sultan Singh by insulting them, a petition was submitted under the signatures of more than 40 SGPC members to bring a resolution and a receiving number was taken from the SGPC office.
A three-member SGPC delegation, which included Bibi Kiranjot Kaur, Bhai Manjit Singh and Amrik Singh Shahpur, submitted the petition to SGPC General Secretary Kulwant Singh Mannan.
After submitting the petition, the three-member SGPC delegation, representing the feelings of Sikhs living all over the world, said that the anger and resentment over the removal of Singh Sahibs by insulting them is in every Sikh living all over the world.
Bibi Kiranjot Kaur, former General Secretary, said that through the petition, a voice has been raised that the anti-national resolutions of the Interim Committee should be rejected and the services of the removed Singh Sahibs should be restored.
Bibi Kiranjot Kaur said that this is the first time in history that such a large number of members have signed a petition to cancel the decision of the Interim Committee.
Bibi Kiranjot Kaur said that more than 40 SGPC members have signed this petition, and 100 percent of the members are against the resolutions that undermine the dignity of Sri Akal Takht Sahib and certainly the anti-Panthic resolutions will be unanimously rejected during the general session, because it is the primary duty of the SGPC members, who are performing their responsibility as the servants of the Guru, that the dignity of the Jathedar Saheb of Sri Akal Takht Sahib should be restored.
Bibi Kiranjot Kaur said that historically, it is a self-evident picture of Panthic power and unity that, no matter where any member cast their vote during the election of the President, everyone has drawn a line against the anti-Panthic resolutions.
The members present as a delegation said that the report of two sub-committees with recommendations for giving service and retiring Singh Sahibans is already available in the SGPC office, therefore instead of forming a committee, the work of the bylaws can be done by considering those suggestions. Therefore, the proposal to form a committee alone is not acceptable to any Sikh, it should be acceptable to approve the bylaws in the general session.
