Akal Takhat Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh directs Sikhs to observe Ghallughara week from June one to June 6

AMRITSAR: Giani Raghbir Singh Jathedar Akal Takht has directed the Sikhs to observe hGallughara week from June one to June 6 in memory of those killed during operation blue star in June 1984 on the occasion of 40th anniversary of operation blue star. The Singh Sahibs also ordered those prayers be offered at every Gurdwara Sahib on 6th June 2024 for the upliftment of the Khalsa Panth in memory of the martyrs of the Ghallughara massacre of June 1984.

This decision was taken during the meeting of five Sikh high priests held at Akal Takht secretariat here today .Giani Raghbir Singh was presided over the meeting.

Jathedar of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib Giani Sultan Singh, Head Granthi of Sachkhand Sri Harimandar Sahib Giani Baljit Singh, Sri Akal Takht . and Giani Sukhdev Singh joined.

In a written statement released after the meeting, Giani Raghbir Singh said that the Indian government attackedAkal Takht Miri, the center of spirituality and the symbol of unity, Sri Harmandir Sahib, Sri Darbar Sahib, Sri Amritsar Sahib, through its army from June 1 to June 6, 1984.

The holy shrine Sri Akal Takht Sahib was made the target of cannon-tank bullets and the devotees who came to celebrate the martyrdom of Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji at 37 other Gurdhams including Sri Darbar Sahib were brutally martyred.

He said that after the gathering of the Panj Singh Sahibs, the entire Sikh community is ordered to celebrate the 40th Ghallughara day in June this year on a large scale from June 1 to June 6.

In the meantime, Gurmat ceremony should be held at every Gurdwara Sahib of the country and abroad and the people should be made aware of the history of June 1984 Ghallughara.

He said that during June 1984, the photographs showing the attack byarmy on the Akal Takht Sahib , the Singhs/Singhians martyred by the Indian Army in the sacred prakrama of the Darbar Sahib and in November 1984 in various parts of the country including Delhi, Kanpur and Bokaro. - Sikh education was done under government patronage in different citiesAn exhibition of photographs of the genocide should be put up at every Gurdwara Sahib so that the devotees can become aware of the atrocities committed by the Indian government on the Sikh community.

The Singh Sahibs further said in their order that after the June 1984 riots, thousands of militant Singhs who jumped into the crusade for the sake of national honor were martyred by staging false police encounters and a large number of Singhs were severely punished by the government. was put in jails, of which As a protest against the non-release of many imprisoned Singhs despite the completion of their sentences and the non-punishment of the perpetrators of the Sikh genocide, from 4th to 6th June 2024.

The Singh Sahibs also ordered that prayers be offered at every Gurdwara Sahib on 6th June 2024 for the upliftment of the Khalsa Panth in memory of the martyrs of the Ghallughara massacre of June 1984.
