CHANDIGARH: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab President and Member of Parliament Bhagwant Mann has appealed to all Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members of Punjab to speak in unison and vote against the Agriculture Ordinances and Central Electricity Amendment Bill 2020 in the monsoon session of Parliament.
In a statement issued from the party headquarters, Bhagwant Mann said that this session of Parliament would test all the MPs of Punjab whether they stand with Punjab or against the peasants of Punjab or give up in greed of ministership.
According to Mann, "On the day of the introduction of the Agriculture Ordinance, just as the eyes of people of Punjab will be on Sukhbir Singh Badal and Harsimrat Kaur Badal, I will raise the voice of people of Punjab inside Parliament and state whether this party is in the interest of Punjab or against it." ''
Bhagwant Mann said that the meeting of the core committee of Badal Dal on the issue of Agriculture Ordinances held on Saturday had highlighted two facts. Firstly, the Badal family, which has so far been directly advocating for the Central Agriculture Ordinances, has been badly disturbed by the ground realities, because if the Badal couple dares to speak and vote against Modi's ordinances in Parliament, then Bibi Harsimrat Kaur's ministership will be in danger and sword of Enforcement Directorate (ED) may fall on Bikram Singh Majithia .
Bhagwant Mann questioned whether the Badal family would be able to make this 'insignificant sacrifice' for the protection of the federal structure of Punjab including agriculture, farmers, laborers, landlords, transporters etc. because such a stand would spark a simmering civil war within the Badal family, which is quite evident for some time.
This is the reason why the Badal family has completely sold out the decades old stand and ideology of the Shiromani Akali Dal and the interests of Punjab and Punjabis to the Modi government to safeguard the ministership of Harsimrat and also save Majithia from enforcement directorate. Had it not been so, the wicked oldman like Parkash Singh Badal would never have been helpless to advocate for the Centre's agriculture ordinances while understanding everything (the catastrophe to be caused by the Agriculture Ordinances and the Central Electricity Amendment Bill, voice being raised against these dictatorial decisions and the swindling of Punjab's rights by going against the principle of federal structure).
Referring to another fact, Bhagwant Mann said that the uneasiness of the leaders of Akali Dal who are puppets of the Badal family has come out in open who were already in a dilemma of choosing between 'Kursi / Kirsani', had come out while having publicly acknowledged that the Agriculture Ordinance is anti-Punjab. In such a scenario on one hand most of the leaders of the Badal Dal are helpless in the face of the familism of their boss (Sukhbir Singh Badal) and disturbed by the rapidly slipping political ground on the other.
Mann said that it is clearly evident from the present situation of Badal and party that how the Shiromani Akali Dal which came into existence in 1920 on the foundation of principles and sacrifices has been sacrificed a century later by the greed of one family. ''
