PHAGWARA: Punjab Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar on Monday said that two additional employees will be deployed at every driving test track across the state to assist people in applying for learners and permanent driving licenses.
He stated that orders regarding this have already been issued to the State Transport Commissioner, and soon 64 more staff members will be stationed at Punjab’s 32 driving test tracks.
These employees will help out citizens to apply for learners and permanent licenses strictly at the government-prescribed fees.

During his surprise visit to the driving test track in Phagwara today, the Cabinet Minister interacted with the people present for license processing and listened to their concerns. He also summoned SDM Jashanjeet Singh and RTO Major Irvin Kaur to the spot.
While interacting with the applicants at the track, the Cabinet Minister informed that the Punjab government has fixed a fee of ₹500 for learner’s licenses and ₹1, 385 for permanent driving licenses. He urged the public not to fall prey to agents and highlighted that the state government has provided an online application facility for obtaining licenses, encouraging people to take advantage of this service.
The Minister instructed the officials to ensure timely processing of licenses, RCs, and other related matters so that citizens do not face any inconvenience. He also emphasized that officials should personally visit the driving test tracks every week to review the functioning and ensure smooth operations.
