A demand was made to postpone the corporation elections till the end of the peasant agitation

PHAGWARA: A delegation of Lok Insaf Party led by Jarnail Nangal State President SC Wing today met AC Municipal Corporation Phagwara and urged the Chief Minister to postpone the forthcoming Municipal elections in Punjab till the end of the ongoing farmers' agitation in Delhi. A memorandum was handed over to the Minister, Chief Electoral Officer Punjab, Local Government Minister Punjab and Deputy Commissioner Kapurthala in this regard also.

He said that today Lok Insaf Party was issuing petitions for postponing the upcoming elections in Punjab at district headquarters across Punjab. Because majority of people in Punjab, farmers, laborers and traders are on strike in Delhi. He said that if our demand was ignored then we would launch state level agitation on behalf of Lok Insaf Party but the conspiracy of the state government to weaken the peasant movement would not be allowed to succeed.
Among others present on the occasion were Dr. Sukhdev Chowkdia, Balraj Bau, Sachin Sharma, Raj Kumar, Sunny Dhiman, Avtar Gandhwa, Inderjit Singh, Kamaljit Kaur, Dr. Ramesh, Shashi Bangar Roop Lal, Shami Bangar and others.
