People will teach a lesson to those who had indulged in vendetta politics – Bikram S Majithia

AMRIK SINGH | January 28, 2022 06:46 PM

AMRITSAR: Former minister Bikram Singh Majithia today said people will teach a lesson to those who had indulged in vendetta politics even as he accused Pradesh Congress President Navjot Sidhu of cheating the people of Amritsar East and not doing anything for their welfare during his last eighteen year long stint in politics.

Mr Bikram Majithia was here to file his nomination papers from the Amritsar East constituency. Earlier he also filed his nomination papers from the Majithia constituency.

Asserting that now the people would decide the fate of those who had cheated and deceived them, Mr Bikram Majithia said the problems of Amritsar East had not been mitigated by the Sidhu couple for nearly two decades. “Facilities like roads, sewerage and quality drinking water have not been sorted out till now. Mr Navjot Sidhu has been representing this constituency one way or the other since more than 18 years. He has done nothing for it. Now people will ask him about his report card. He cannot befool them with some imaginary Punjab Model. He has to tell the residents of Amritsar East why he has failed them as their representative”.

Earlier at Majitha, the SAD leader said he was contesting the polls against two brothers who were being fielded by AAP and the Congress respectively. “The elder brother – Lalli Majithia always represented the Congress but jumped ship to AAP. His place has now been taken by the younger sibling. Earlier both the brothers fought over the spoils of corruption. However this greed and opportunism has exposed both of them. It also proves my contention that AAP is the B team of the Congress party”.

Mr Majithia also detailed how the Congress government had done its best to prevent him from contesting the assembly elections. He said Section 37 of the NDPS Act was used deliberately against him to ensure he could not get anticipatory bail due to an apex court directive in this regard.
“The Congress government even went to the extent of conducting raids on my residences even though the high court had clearly stated that it would consider my appeal to give me time to seek relief from the Supreme Court. We have complained regarding this to the Election Commission also and demanded action against officers responsible for this”.

Mr Majithia also asked the Bureau of Investigation (BOI) Director B Chander Shekhar as to whose directions he had conducted the raids against him. He also detailed how the false drugs case had been registered against him at the instance of former State police chief S Chattopadhyay who had already been exposed as having a truck with the drug mafia as well as proclaimed offenders.

Media persons also urged Mr Majithia to react to the assertions of Navjot Sidhu’s sister Suman Toor that the former had abandoned and mistreated his mother. Mr Majithia said Sidhu had a track record of betraying all persons who had been near and dear to him at one time or another. “People are already saying that a person who could not be loyal to his mother could not be loyal to anyone”.
