Three of in-law’s family booked in dowry harassment case

PHAGWARA: The Nakodar Sadar police have booked three members of an in-law’s family in the dowry harassment case.

Investigating officer (IO) Janak Raj said that the accused have been identified as Manjit Kumar a resident of Mohalla Ravi Dass Pura, Phillaur, his mother Amarjit Kaur, and father Amarik Singh.

Manju a resident of Beer Pind village had filed a complaint to the senior superintendent of police, Jalandhar (rural), that her in-laws harassed her demanding more and more dowry.

The Investigating Officer said a case under Sections 85 (husband or relative of a woman subjecting her to cruelty) and 316 (criminal breach of trust) of the IBNS has been registered against the accused after an inquiry.

The police also booked Sandip Singh and Pardeep Kuar residents of Mir Pur Marri village for harassing Baljit Kaur of Chiti village for dowry.
