CHANDIGARH: Professor Indu Pal Kaur, DPIIT-IPR Chair Professor and Professor of Pharmaceutics & Former Chairperson of University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS), Panjab University, Chandigarh is invited as a “Special Guest to the Government of India” to witness the historic occasion of the commemoration of the 75th Republic Day on the basis of her contribution to the field of IPR.
The invitation is extended directly from the office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Government of India. All the air fare, hotel accommodation and escort through the program have been arranged by the Government of India. The agenda also includes high tea and interaction with Hon’ble Minister and local sightseeing.
To acknowledge the contribution and ingenuity of Indian inventors and patent holders, who play a very significant role in the economic development of a country, the Government of India has decided to invite to the Republic Day Parade distinguished patent holders who have made substantial contributions in the field of science and technology and raised the stature of India, globally.
Overwhelmed with the honor, Prof Kaur remarked, “It is indeed a great honor for being acknowledged as a Distinguished Patent Holder by the Government of India.”
In her immense contribution of over three decades to Pharmaceutical Sciences and IPR, Prof. Kaur was bestowed by the Government of India viz. the National Intellectual Property Award 2021 & 2022 for Top Indian Individual for Patents Filing, Grant & Commercialization and World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) Medal for Inventors (2023), and From being recognized by US Embassy, USPTO for my IP value on World Intellectual Property Day 2023 under a social media campaign called “The Value of Her IP”.
Prof. Kaur is an active researcher with more than 34 years of teaching and research experience. Prof. Kaur has transferred 04 technologies developed in her lab to the Industry. She has been granted 17 Indian and 01 US patent out of 32 filed patent applications. Emphasis of her work lies on Industrial and clinical translation of the research produced in her lab. Her lab is highly funded and has several collaborations with scientists across the globe.
