KAITHAL: Indira Gandhi PG Women's College founder late Om Prabha Jain's birthday was celebrated in college premises today .The program was organized in the Indira Gandhi women college on the occasion of the 94th birthday of Omprabha Jain. Suresh Gupta Joint Secretary Women's College Committee attended as Chief guest.
The principal and the Teaching staff of the college first welcomed the Chief guest and members of managing Committee on reaching the college premises. Thereafter, the Chief guest and all the dignitaries garlanded the statue of Om prabha Jain. On this occasion, Havan Yagya was organized in which the Chief guest was present as Yajman, the head of the managing committee, Principal Dr Aarti Garg and Principal in -charge of the evening session, Shweta Tanwar, offered prayers in the Havan Yagya amidst chanting of Gayatri Mantra.
The students of the music department gave beautiful presentations of bhajans. The students threw light on the life of Om Prabha Jain through speech and poetry. The participating girl students were honored by the managing committee president Ram Bahadur Khurania and Secretary Narendra Miglani with a cash prize of Rs 2100-2100.

The Principal and Secretary said that Om Prabha Jain became the first female MLA at the age of 26. In 1966, she became the first Finance Minister of Haryana in Bhagwat Dayal Sharma's government after formation of Haryana. She was a strong woman and a source of inspiration for all women. On this occasion Joint Secretary Satish Kumar Chawla, Subhash Sharma, Narsi Mittal, Naresh Gupta, Rajiv Latka, Somprakash Mangal, Praveen Bindlish, Indrajit Sardana, Baburam Gupta and Suman Pahwa and Prof. Seema Suneja, Prof. Monica Guglani, Prof. Navneet, Prof. Aruna, Prof. Sudesh, Prof. Deepa, Prof. All the college members including Neeru were present.
