AMRITSAR: The School of Social Sciences at Guru Nanak Dev University proudly celebrates the remarkable achievement of its alumnus, Sidaq Singh, who recently secured an impressive All India Rank (AIR) 157 in the prestigious UPSC Civil Services Examination.
Today, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Karamjeet Singh honored Sidaq and extended heartfelt congratulations on his exceptional success and acknowledged the commitment of the School of Social Sciences to nurturing high achievers. Prof. Karamjeet Singh praised Sidaq's perseverance throughout his six attempts at the UPSC examination, emphasizing the importance of determination in achieving one's goals. In a gesture of encouragement, Prof. Karamjeet Singh expressed optimism for Sidaq's future contributions to the nation through public service. "We are immensely proud of you, Sidaq, " he said. This exceptional accomplishment underscores both Sidaq’s personal determination and the academic excellence fostered by the university.
Earlier, Mr. Sidaq visited the department accompanied by his parents and elder brother. He was warmly welcomed by Prof. Anjali Mehra, Head of the Department, along with senior faculty members including Prof. Rajesh Kumar and Dr. G.S. Bajwa. During his visit, Sidaq took the time to engage with faculty and current students and shared his enriching experience at GNDU.
Prof. Anjali Mehra expressed her immense pride in Sidaq's achievement, recalling the early signs of his brilliance during his studies. She noted, "He was always attentive, curious, and eager to learn." Prof. Mehra fondly remembered how Sidaq mastered statistics in class without needing a calculator—a remarkable trait she still cherishes.
