GNDU A-Zone Youth Festival inaugurated

AMRITSAR: The A-Zone (Amritsar District Colleges) Youth Festival of Guru Nanak Dev University was inaugurated here today in the Dasmesh Auditorium of the University. The festival was started with Costume parade. In the costume parade competitions organized at the Youth Festival, students showcased their creativity and cultural heritage through vibrant and imaginative outfits.

Participants often represented various themes, ranging from traditional attire to contemporary interpretations, highlighting diversity and artistic expression. Various colleges participated in second competition, Mime. Mime serves as a powerful form of artistic expression, conveying emotions and stories without words. It enhances non-verbal communication skills and reflects cultural themes.

Prof. Preet Mohinder Singh Bedi, Dean Student’s Welfare inaugurated the festival by lighting the candles. On this occasion, he said that education is not just about acquiring knowledge; it’s a holistic process that shapes individuals for the future. He said that Ethics play a crucial role in this journey, guiding students to make responsible choices and fostering integrity in their academic and personal lives. Engaging in extracurricular activities enhances this educational experience, promoting teamwork, leadership, and social skills, he added. Dr. Amandeep Singh, Incharge, Youth Welfare Department welcomed the chief guest, teachers, students-artists and other personalities. He gave details about the festivals and its activities. He said that the festival is being oragnized under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice-Chancellor.

Dr. Amandeep Singh said that today, the competitions of Costume Parade, Mime, Mimicry, Skit and One Act Play were held in the the Dashmesh Auditorium. In the mimicry competitions, students displayed their talents by impersonating famous personalities, characters, or everyday situations. Participants showcased their vocal skills, comedic timing, and creativity, often incorporating humor and satire. Through their performances, they entertained the audience while highlighting their ability to capture nuances in voice and mannerisms.

In the second venue i.e. Golden Jubilee Convention Centre, the competitions of Classical Instrumental (P), Classical Instrumental (N.P) Classical Vocal, Folk Orchestra were organized. Painting on the Spot, Cartooning , Collage, Clay Modeling, On the Spot Photography were held on the third venue Architecture Department. The competitions of Installation and Quiz Preliminary & Final were organized in the Conference Hall

On the Day 2nd i.e. October 18, He said that the competitions of Western Vocal Solo, Western Group Song, Western Instrumental Solo, Classical Dance, Group Dance and Gidha will be organized at 10:00 AM in the Dashmesh Auditorium. In the Golden Jubilee Convention Centre, the competitions of Group Shabad Bhajan, Group Song, Geet/Ghazal, Folk Song, Vaar Singing and Kawishri will be held. The Rangoli, Phulkari, Mehndi and poster making competitions will be organized in the Architecture Department and in the Conference Hall, the Poetical Symposium, Elocution and Debate competitions will be organized. He said that on October 19 the competition Bhangra will be held at 10:00 AM in the Dashmesh Auditorium.
