FEROZEPUR: Badminton player Japleen Kaur who won at Punjab level at the age of nine was honored by District Sports Officer Ferozepur and District Badminton Association Ferozepur jointly. In the Punjab Open Sunriser Badminton Tournament which was attended by nearly 500 players, Silver Medal was won. The prestigious tournament was held at the indoor hall of Hansraj College, Jalandhar.

The Hon'ble District Education Officer Ferozepur and District Badminton Association Ferozepur jointly presented him a trophy and a T-shirt at the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Indoor Hall today. Mr. Vinay Vohra, Secretary, District Badminton Association said that the results of Ferozepur for the last four to five years have been very good and will be even better. He also said that due to the large number of children in the evenings in the indoor halls, the children have less time to practice, so the administration should provide a third badminton court with table tennis tables.

By shifting elsewhere this court should also be made available for the children to play with which the results of Ferozepur would be amazing not only at the state level but also at the national level. Jaswinder Singh, the coach of Japleen, said that his goal was to get Japleen and other players in Ferozepur to break the record of their own daughter Swarit.

He also said that table tennis which does not require a very high ceiling to be played should be shifted and the third court here should be given to the badminton players.
