CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Power Engineers Association today held protest meetings at Karnal , Kaithal , Yamunanagar, Hissar, Gurugram, Rohtak , Sonipat , Panipat, Bhiwani and other cities to express outrage over the suspension of Superintending Engineer (SE), Jind, for his failure to answer a minister's phone call. It may be mentioned that a day after Punjab and Haryana High Court set aside the suspension of SE he was again placed under suspension yesterday.

The Central Council of the Haryana Power Engineers Association (HPEA) held an emergency meeting today and decided to hold two hour long protest meetings daily in the morning across Haryana. Ravinder Ghanghas, State General Secretary, condemned the suspension of SE Hari Dutt, stating it has caused widespread resentment among engineers. He demanded the immediate revocation of the suspension order.

Senior Vice President Baljeet Beniwal said that the online transfer policy was reviewed, and it was agreed to take up this matter with the management of all Haryana Power Utilities (HPUs).He further said that despite approval by the Haryana Bureau of Public Enterprises (HBPE) in 2021, the reorganization of Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) and Executive Engineer (XEN) posts has not been implemented. Moreover , the corporation management has also withdrawn a proposal for promoting Superintending Engineers to Chief Engineers, further blocking promotion opportunities for SEs, XENs, and SDOs.

Vice President Sudeep Bamal pointed out severe staffing shortages in the South Haryana Power Distribution Corporation, with only 2 out of 29 approved XEN posts filled. Districts like Charkhi Dadri and Nuh have no Superintending Engineers office for the last four years, putting consumers at great inconvenience.
